Radiodiagnostic Translation sheets

Page one lists most essential English words and phrases commonly used by X-ray staff when talking to patients.  Translations of these phrases into different languages are included on subsequent pages, and the words and phrases can be combined to meet most important needs when English-speaking X-ray staff communicate with patients who do not speak English. It is hoped that the sheets will also help to improve relationships between radio-diagnostic staff and foreign patients.

Sometimes, for practical reasons, linguistic accuracy has been sacrificed for brevity. Word order, gender and direct translation are not always strictly accurate.  Nevertheless it is hoped offensive phrases have been avoided and the gist of essential meaning can be conveyed.

The translations have been provided by volunteers, but the project is by no means complete.  If you, or a friend or colleague are able to provide a translation into a language nor yet available on this site, your input would be most welcome.  Please make contact
